Out-of-School Program
The Out-of-School Program features professional artists working with youth in Camden City and Camden County, NJ. The past 3 summers we have had artists work with at-risk youth at the YES facility and adjudicated youth at the Camden County Youth Center, both in Camden County serving a predominantly Camden City population. The programs for this population range from drumming, theater, and poetry to painting and aromatherapy, but all explore personal and societal issues such as culture, identity, self-reliance, self-empowerment and alternatives to violence. Perkins has also partnered with the Prosecutor's Office and Camden Community Connections for several years to provide Mural Classes for youth as a community service component to our Mural Program.
