In Our Communities
Perkins Center for the Arts has developed in-depth programs both on-site and outside of our facilities throughout Southern New Jersey, with a special focus in the city of Camden. Since its inception in 1977, Perkins community programs have expanded to include:
- a Summer Arts Program (camp and afternoon workshops) bringing urban and suburban children together for eight weeks of art exploration;
- an ARTS (Arts Reaching The Students) in-school residency program matching professional artists with schools for extended residencies;
- and a Community Collaborations Program focusing on underserved communities and audiences featuring:
- Out-of-School Program,
- Junior Training Artist (JTA) teen employment program
- Mural/Community Gardens Program.
