Conservatory of Music

Learning to sing or play a musical instrument can be a gratifying accomplishments and placing students and teachers together in a musically enriched environment, is part of Perkins Center for the Arts' mission in the arts.

Perkins Center Conservatory of Music offers a full program of instruction for students of all ages and levels of ability age 6 to adult. Conservatory faculty are graduates of major music conservatories and universities. Many of our instructors have rigorous training in specialized musical fields and perform professionally. Students of the conservatory come away with a musical education that builds creativity and confidence, traits that are essential for life-long learning and achievement.

Students receive individual instruction in piano, flute, recorder, bassoon, violin, viola, guitar, percussion, music theory and composition. Voice lessons are offered for students age 12 to adult. Voice students also learn how to read pitches and rhythms and understand the fundamental of music theory.

Students receive individual instruction on string, woodwind and percussion instruments, including: piano, flute, recorder, bassoon, violin, viola, guitar and drums. Individual instruction in music theory is also available. Students register for 30-minute, 45-minute or one-hour lessons.

Private voice lessons are offered for students age 12 to adult.

Students receive individual instruction on piano, violin and viola. Students register for 30-minute, 45-minute or one-hour lessons.

Cost and Schedule

The Conservatory school year is arranged in four 10 week quarters beginning in September, November, January and April. The summer session, beginning in June, is flexible in duration. A student may enroll at any time during the quarter: tuition is pro-rated. Students will be billed individually according to teacher/student schedules. Payment for quarters and summer session is due in full by the first lesson.

  • 1/2 hour - $24.00 for Members, $26.00 for Non-Members
  • 3/4 hour - $34.75 for Members, $36.75 for Non-Members
  • 1 hour - $45.50 for Members, $47.50 for Non-Members
  • 1 hour ensemble* - $25.50 for Members, $27.50 for Non-Members

*Ensemble instruction is arranged by teachers according to students' skills.
