Ideal for students who have taken pottery classes at Perkins in the past, the class will build upon skills achieved by introducing techniques for working on the pottery wheel. This class will present step-by-step instruction on how to center, open and pull up clay to create bowls, cups and plates. Surface decoration, glazing and hand-building projects also will be explored. Geared toward beginners and those with prior experience, this course may be repeated.
Use a combination of hand building and wheel throwing techniques to create vases with profiles inspired by Ancient Greek Amphora vases. Learn techniques to decorate the vases using themes from images of painted Greek vases.
Calling all Parents! This parent/child mini-class is a great opportunity to try out ceramics during your busy summer, as you and your child meet the exciting medium of clay. You will make a planter and a fruit bowl, exploring textural and sculptural elements, as you explore your creativity and learn to build with clay by hand. You will make at least one project during each of the first two classes, and apply colorful glazes to them during the last class. Projects will be available for pickup in mid-August.
