Calling all drama queens and kings! Learning how to create a dramatic character is a key skill. This class will help students create dramatic and comedic characters by breaking down text and analyzing intent and motivation. Students will perform scenes and monologues and unlock their imagination through improvisation. Tweens will act out monologues from scripts of their choosing from their favorite movies and TV shows. Then have an opportunity to perform a mock audition. Parents invited to last class "showcase!" We need a good sized group of 6-12 people to make this a great, exciting, inspiring, and DRAMATIC class so get your friends to take this with you.
So….just who do you think you are? Take some time and develop an actor’s bag of tricks. Developing a character is really one of the most important things any actor can accomplish. This workshop will give you the tools to start becoming an actor that people want to watch and ways to create the character that fits the story line of the play just perfectly. The walk, the talk, even the costume from home will make your character come to life right before everyone’s eyes! You will be mastering monologues and working to explore the essential ingredients that make any character memorable like, emotion, objective, past experiences, subtext and traits can make you a better actor. Then we’ll top it all off with a mini workshop on an actor’s make-up and toss in the character as well. You’ll leave a smarter, more confident actor than when you walked in with a bag of tricks you’ll continue to add to as long as the drama bug bites…and you’ll be able to show everyone according to the story…just who you think you really are… for now.
