Calling All HEROES!
Perkins Center for the Arts’ Summer Camp has educated and immersed children in creative and fun arts activities for over 20 years. Approximately 250 children participate each summer, and 40% of those children attend on scholarships made possible through Perkins Center for the Arts and the generosity of our corporate donors. The children have a great time painting, singing, playing music, creating clay sculptures and much more! In the past year, Perkins Center has noticed an increase in requests for scholarships from local families who want to send their child to our Summer Arts Camp but can’t afford to in these tough times. In an effort to meet this need, Perkins Center would like to expand its scholarship offerings. Can you help us?
$50 will provide drinks, snacks and lunch for 3 campers each day for 1 session (2-weeks) of Summer Arts Camp.
$150 will provide 1 camper with a ...Read more

“I loved performing. What I loved the most was writing the songs…
Now I’ve experienced what you have to do to establish your presence and what you have to do to be a storyteller.”

Teaching artists in the ARTS program reached more than 0,000 students and community members in Burlington and Camden County public, parochial and independent schools in the 2009-10 school year. Residencies were presented in mural design and installation, theater, storytelling, poetry, percussion, contemporary dance, papermaking and sculpture.
Our residencies deepen the arts experience for students, enriching the school curriculum. Students work individually to learn and practice the art medium, then work collaboratively to implement the learning while producing the final work of visual, performance or written art.

Kimberly Bunting, Director of Community Programs at Perkins Center received an Unsung Hero award from the Campbell Soup Foundation at their annual networking breakfast in October. Jerry Buckley, Chairman of the Foundation said,
Our unsung hero truly knows how to go above and beyond. In her four years at Perkins Center for the Arts, Kim has directed the Summer Arts Camp, the Out-of-School Program and co-managed the Mural/Community Gardens Program. She not only brings her experience as an artist to these programs, but her passion for the arts and a very deep compassion for people.
Stories that were shared included one about this past summer camp; Kim found out that there were several campers from Camden who did not get breakfast in the morning. So she went out and bought breakfast items to ensure they wouldn’t go hungry. She also purchased bathing suits for the counselors and volunteers who supervised the children in the swimming ...Read more
