Perkins Center’s Conservatory of Music Percussion Teacher, JOSEPH GETZ graduated from The University of the Arts with a BM in music performance. Since completion of his degree he has been a recording and performing artist for numerous independent artists. Currently plays with Philadelphia's instrumental/punk experimental band "Mercury Radio Theater" and "Johnny Showcase and the Lefty Lucy Cabaret." Mercury Radio Theater has toured nationally as well as playing locally in venues such as Johnny Brendas, The Khyber, North Star Bar, and First Unitarian Church. A new album is in the works in the coming months in hopes to be released later this year. Johnny Showcase and the Lefty Lucy Cabaret had a successful venture in this past year's Philadelphia Fringe Fest with a production called "Purr Pull Reign." This production created a buzz within both the music and theater community, responsible for an ever growing audience at the Cabaret's frequent appearances at World Cafe Live. Getz also has regularly performed in the pit orchestra in the musical theater productions of "Hair" at the City Theater Company and "Aida" at the Ritz Theater.
